Listings & Availability

Use this guide to understand how to optimize your listings and availability.

Open Now

Open now allows you to make your product default as available for pick-up. This feature can be turned on under the “overview” section in your producer dashboard. When on, this feature places a badge stating “Open Now” on your available items. This is ideal for producers who have a market stand. Toggle on open now when items are available in your stand. This feature is also convenient if you plan to spend a period of time outside, such as a few hours outside gardening. You can pre-set the length of time you want your store to be marked open. The open now badge will automatically be turned off after this time ends or you can manually turn this feature off. Open now will NOT make “harvesting soon” or “coming later” products available. The product must be listed as “available” to have the open now badge.

Order Approval

Order approval is found under the “Farmstand” tab of your producer dashboard under “Visibility”. Selecting this feature causes orders to require prior approval before they are finalized. After an order is places, you must select “approve order” before final checkout. This is used if you would like to review all order, such as if your products are not consistently available or you would like to review who is purchasing from you prior to the purchase. This can be changed anytime.

Ingredients

When listing a product, you will be asked what ingredient your product is. This is for a feature that is coming soon which will link local products to recipes and product use recommendation. This is an optional feature. If you would like your product to be linked to these recipes in the future, select the closest match.

Availability: Available, Harvesting Soon, Coming Later

There are three different availabilities to list a product under: available, harvesting soon, and coming later.

Available is a product you currently have in stock, ready to sell.

Harvesting soon is for products that will be available within a few weeks. When you select harvesting soon, you have three options for how potential buyers can interact with your product. “Interest Only” allows potential buyers to input their email. When you switch the product to available, an email will be sent to these potential buyers. “Check Out Now” is if you would like to fully sell the product before it is available. This works best if you know you have a large and consistent quantity. Finally, “Reservation Only”, allows people to reserve the product without paying ahead. This works best for products that are variable (see Set vs. Variable below) or you prefer to finalize the purchase later. You must manually change the status of your product to “available” when you are ready to sell it.

Coming later is best for products 1-12 months out. The only way buyers can interact with this product is through “Interest Only”. Potential buyers emails will be collected and they will be notified when you make the product available. You must manually change the availability to available.

Set vs. Variable

Quantities of products can be listed as set or variable. Set is what you most likely think of for products: the amount that someone orders does not change. For example, one dozen eggs, 4 apples, 1 ounce of dried basil. Variable is for products where you may need to adjust the exact quantities. Weight is an area where this may commonly be done. For example, if you price beef per pound and a customer orders 5 pounds, you may want to select the variable quantity so you are able to charge the exact weight of a 5.2lb package. Set or variability quantities is selected in the “Pricing” section of a product listing.
