GreensShare is a tool to help green the environment by linking you to local green produce and food/health goods
How it works:
Based on your location, truly local farms and gardens are shown on a map. Gardeners, beekeepers, cottage crafters, and small farmers update what they have available and you pick what you want. Secure payment happens here, and you get fresh, local food while saving all the packaging, transportation emissions, and preservatives that you would otherwise be responsible for if you shopped at a supermarket.
Why?
You want to be environmentally conscious and healthy by eating organic salad. The lettuce was grown on a big farm, states away, trucked by a diesel truck burning extra diesel to keep the kale cool, to be delivered to your local grocery where much of it unfortunately ends up in a landfill. Instead, you could hop on GreensShare and realize that one street over, a young couple grows lettuce and has too much, so they created a farmstand here to further save the planet. . . and both of your wallets.
Frequently Asked Questions
It is up to the producer to advertise their products according to all regulations and business ethics. The USDA sets forth regulations and if the product has a green checkmark next to it, that means we have verified the producer’s documentation, such as ‘organic’ or ‘grass-fed’, although it is the USDA and third-party organizations that verify to provide them that documentation.
You can, though only you know if you should. Specialization on a small scale is the most sustainable option for our food supply, so if you grow potatoes and sweet corn, you have two things to be an expert at and be the most efficient with, but you don’t need all those potatoes and corn, so you sell the excess here, and find someone to buy tomatoes and honey from.
1.) Reach more customers: If you already have plenty of customers that pay cash, maybe you don’t need to use GreensShare.
2.) Receive digital payment: To make it easier for customers, all payment can be run through our secure partner to get from them to you.
3.) Follow the money: Of course, if you use this, we take a very small cut, which goes back to resources to help you: liability insurance, regulatory resources and guides, support to understand local food safety laws, and again, more exposure to more customers.
4.) Everything in one place: Once you make your page on GreensShare.com, you can manage finances, reviews, inventory, social media, pictures and descriptions all in one place instead of an envelope of egg money with the egg cartons and feed receipts on top of the dryer and no clue if your chickens are breaking even.
No, not in any significant way. GreensShare does not use AI to analyze purchase behavior, chart trends in produce, to write articles or code, or to create content. We do use code from many sources, and recently there have been many updates flouting the use of AI in updates, but with the exception of the payment gateway, your information stays on GreensShare where there is not prevalent use of AI.
